Solo travel is on the rise, and Canada is making its mark as a top destination for solo adventurers. In Tripadvisor’s 2025 Travellers’ Choice Awards, Toronto and Vancouver were highlighted as top destinations in the Solo Travel category, ranking 11th and 21st respectively.
Toronto earned its 11th place ranking for its big-city atmosphere, world-class theatre, shopping, and dining options, as well as its clean streets and friendly locals. Tripadvisor described it as “New York City run by the Swiss,” capturing the city’s charm and welcoming vibe.
Vancouver, ranked 21st, was praised for its mix of urban experiences and outdoor beauty, including snow-capped mountains, beaches, and cityside forests. Its Olympic history and thriving food scene also contributed to its appeal as a solo travel hotspot. Both Canadian cities were placed alongside global favorites like Seoul, Bangkok, and Reykjavik, emphasizing Canada’s strong international appeal and vibrant, diverse offerings for solo travellers.
