Traveling from Toronto to Europe is about to get a lot easier this summer, thanks to a brand-new direct flight connecting Pearson International Airport with London, England — home of iconic British fare like bangers and mash, Sunday roast, and fish and chips.
Virgin Atlantic has officially resumed its nonstop service between London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson after more than a decade-long hiatus.
London remains a top travel destination, especially in the summer, thanks to its mild weather and world-famous attractions — including the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, renowned museums, and lively pubs. The British capital welcomes over 20 million tourists annually from around the globe.
The inaugural flight of the revived route took off this past Sunday, with none other than Sir Richard Branson — founder of the Virgin Group and billionaire entrepreneur worth an estimated $2.8 billion — on board at Pearson Airport.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be back,” Branson said. “It seems like a lot of Canadians want to visit London right now, and we’re more than happy to make that happen.”
The new route is expected to serve more than 165,000 passengers annually and will be operated using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The service is also part of a growing partnership between Virgin Atlantic and Canadian airline WestJet.
Tickets are now available for booking, with starting fares as follows:
- Economy Class: $1,101 CAD
- Premium Class: $2,516 CAD
- Upper Class (Business): $3,739 CAD
The flight will operate daily, offering travelers and business professionals a convenient new option for traveling between two of the world’s major cultural and financial hubs.
