Canada’s Canadian Rockies have recently been hailed as one of the UNESCO-recognized most beautiful places on the planet.

The list compiled by Conde Nast Traveler reveals that the Canadian Rockies have secured a position among the 39 destinations on the list, making it the only location in Canada to be featured.

The Rockies are comprised of four national parks in Alberta and B.C. – Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Yoho.

The Canadian Rockies are known for offering some of the best long-distance hiking and wildlife-watching experiences in Canada, with highlights such as Moraine Lake and Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Mount Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park, Burgess Shale and Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. Other iconic locations on the list include Machu Picchu in Peru, the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and Yosemite National Park in the United States.
